What federal guidance says to ask
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission tells homeowners to plan for re-occupancy before the job, stay out while foam is applied and for at least 24 hours after unless the manufacturer says otherwise, ask how the work area will be ventilated, and confirm the contractor's training and insurance.

What we do
- Re-entry time in writing. Before the job, you get the product we will use and the re-entry time its maker specifies.
- Isolated work area. We seal off the work area from the rest of the house and protect floors and surfaces on our path.
- Ventilation. We ventilate the work area during spraying and after, until re-entry.
- Protective equipment. The crew wears respirators and protective suits in the spray area.
- Clean-up. Overspray, trimmings and packaging leave with us.
- Completion report. Product, depth readings, photos and the time it is safe to come back in.
Questions you should ask any spray foam contractor
- What product will you use, and what re-entry time does its maker specify?
- How will you ventilate during and after the job?
- What training and certification does the crew have?
- Can I see your insurance?
Ask us every one of these. You will get the answers in writing.
